02 Mar Sign up for a free yard tree

Here’s the deal: Philadelphia Parks and Recreation’s Tree Philly program offers all Philly residents the chance to scoop one or two to two trees to plant in their front, back, or side yard, free of charge. All you have to do is register here, then swing by one of the program’s special events in April where they’ll give you your tree (it’ll weigh between 15 and 25 pounds when you pick it up) along with a free bag of mulch.

The free trees offered this year include red maple, swamp white oak, American hornbeam, pagoda dogwood, witchhazel, white fringetree, redgold nectarine and ayers pear. Yep: You could get a free nectarine or pear tree for your yard. How freakin’ awesome is that?
